IN ODE TO A MARINER’S REBELLIOUS NATURE…
The bar beyond, aptly named “The Plank”, nods mockingly to Rhode Island’s rejection of the prohibition amendment of the 1920’s. In reference to a mariner’s rebellious nature, the bar has a cantilevered wood plank with a cheeky sculpture of a man, a 1920’s sailor, stubbornly choosing to ‘walk the plank’ rather than give up his coveted, leather wrapped flask. A sailor, without a watering hole to tell his tall tales, is just a man on a boat.
